Stories online tell us that church is changing. People don’t want to be preached at, but wish to have discussions. So why are we using social media like a pulpit?
“You are preaching to me your beliefs, sharing your Scripture, and telling me that what I am doing is somehow wrong. Do I get a say in this?” That’s what goes through the mind of one of our volunteers. We need to encourage conversation. So we have compiled some interesting links to help you build a conversational relationship with your followers:
- 3 Important Life Skills Nobody Ever Taught You by Mark Manson: Excuse the cursing. This is a great article if you can overlook the cuss words. Some of his ideas you may disagree with, but look for the basics, like who we are in Christ as our identity, how to listen and respect people we disagree with, and that it isn’t all about you.
- Book Review: Listen, Love, Repeat: Read this review and even the book to be more other-centered.
- Ann Voskamp: Take a look and study how Ann Voskamp does social media. You can learn a lot from this lady.
