“Wil and Meeke – who not only direct the operations of UFC, but also host Airing the Addisons, a daily call-in show – often express that the root cause of the black community’s troubles is that many vocal leaders are placing too high a value on ethnicity. “Our community’s highest allegiance is often to the color of our skin when it should be to God,” Wil has said to me.

As you can imagine, that message frequently brings criticism and insults, but the Addisons are strong in their biblical faith and empowered by God’s Holy Spirit to withstand assaults from their opponents. In addition, they are articulate, winsome defenders of the faith. That’s why it is not unusual that those who call the radio show to challenge the Addisons often come away saying, “Well, that’s a perspective I’ve never heard.” On the other hand, UFC is attracting a growing, loyal listenership because, as Meeke says, the radio network is becoming a safe haven for black American Christians who have not had a voice in the traditional media.”
