I have come to a place in experience where, in every sense of the word, I have surrendered myself to our creator b/c literally there was no else…. + by God + by your prayers I have felt tenderly cradled in freefall. I have been shown in darkness, light + have learned that even in prison, one can be free. I am grateful. I have come to see that there is good in every situation, sometimes we just have to look for it. – Kayla Mueller
Writers practice courage every time they push send on their email. In my experience, it is not the quality of the work, but the voice of the writer that earns reader loyalty. In my work at TRC Magazine, I search, not for the writer with the most best sellers or with the best writing, I look for the story–the story that will leave a legacy. Kayla Mueller showed us that, not only did her work glorify God, but it continues to be her words that live long after her death.
That’s what I try to teach the Senior Adults at the Adult Day Center–their words not only help themselves let go, but empowers them to leave a lasting legacy. The Real George Washington (American Classic Series) is a tome that showed letters and journals from others who knew George Washington. It is a great example of a lasting legacy that can influence future generations. George Washington was a Christian and prayer warrior. Kayla Mueller lived Matthew 28 and a life of living sacrifice. ISIS may have taken a life, but in taking her life, they have glorified the God of the Bible. Kayla’s words are unstoppable. It is amazing that it is the Bible that has survived for approximately 1,600 years (if not longer), influencing many millions. It is the power of words that last.
A slogan was painted across my high school gym that said words are more powerful than the sword. ISIS may be adept at social media and weapons, but God confounds even the most powerful among us by using the words of someone like Kayla to inspire. Youth search for significance and may fall into the trap of ISIS online, but words like Kayla’s will be ISIS’ undoing. God will win. He asks us to participate in His Kingdom work.
No power can prevent the lost from coming to Jesus in great numbers when the church is revived and operating together in the Holy Spirit. – International House of Prayer
