Do you know what it means to be a Christian?
A recent conversation reminded me how many people claim to be Christian while actually not believing in the principles of Christianity. The word, Christian, has become a universal term. New Age is blending with Christianity to create a new false religion. Some Buddhists are blending Christianity with their gods. Lots of church-going Christians have unbiblical ideas of what it means to be a Christian.
Dating a believer doesn’t make you a Christian.
Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian.
We have to be careful what movies, music, and books we endorse on our social media as the people who put them out are not always a believer, but may claim to be one.
If you endorse something, people who admire and emulate you will believe what you say, too. A heavy responsibility lies with us on social media to be sure of what we approve of. If we make a mistake of endorsing something, make it right. Post about it. If we do not become more discerning, what David Platt claims could come true:

The Christian is, from the beginning, a missionary or evangelist. The article talks about fertility rates, but I believe the bigger issues are apathy, busyness, and the ever-growing gray areas that Christians are becoming more and more acceptable of, like living together, divorce, the gay issue, etc. Instead of trying to make Christianity more palatable to the non-believer, we should instead stand compassionately for a holy God.

The mission of every believer is to make disciples. We are called to preach the good news of the cross and point people to a loving and just God who judges the world. For some of us, it means our primary focus will be the ministry of and to the Church. For others, our focus will take us primarily outside the four walls of the Church. We need both. READ MORE
