Proverbs 3:4-6

A Barrier is anything that blocks, obstructs, or hinders your God-given destiny.

There are many things in life that we can do to disqualify ourselves from receiving a breakthrough in our life. Here is a list of a few things that we must avoid in our personal lives if we are going to experience the purpose of God coming to pass in our lives. If you feel like you are hitting a wall when witnessing and reaching others for Christ, look within yourself and make sure that you are not allowing barriers to hinder your breakthrough.

Bad Motives

“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”     James 4:3

Motive= the goal or reason behind someone’s actions.

A Unforgiving heart

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”     Matthew 5:23–24

Refusing to Repent

“If I had cherished send in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;”     Psalm 66:18

Impoliteness

“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”     1st Peter 3:7

Resisting the Word

“If anyone turns a death here to the law, even his prayers are detestable.”     Proverbs 28:9

Skepticism

“But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;”     James 1:6–7

Skepticism = to doubt the truth   (Doubt your doubts/Doubt the devil)
